Catching Up…

It’s been a while since I have blogged, I know.  I can think of 101 reasons why, but honestly I’ve been so caught up in the life of one little boy that I just haven’t taken the time.  But as Dustin has so kindly reminded me on a number of occasions now, I have not posted anything new since November, and it would be good of me to take a few moments and get some pictures up.  So I’ve collected a few from the month of December and the highlights of our holiday season.

Here is our first trip to the San Antonio Zoo.  I’m glad we waited until this age to go and it was fun because he knew the names of many of the animals we saw.  His two favorite animals were the elephant and the hippopotamus (although he was fascinated with the snakes too – we’re lucky we got Dustin in the exhibit with us).

On our Anniversary we took Alex to Bastrop to see the Trail of Lights along the river.

One of Alex’s favorite moments during the Festival of Lights at Katherine Fleischer Park was the kiddies train ride.  Dustin was a great sport and gave in when Alex said, “Daddy, go train”, even though he hardly fit in the little drum cars.  I know because I rode with Alex first and I barely fit!  Alex’s little squeals of delight were worth it.

This year Alex helped open some of his Christmas gifts, although he still had a lot of fun playing with the boxes things came in too.

Believe it or not, although we have not had any snow (we DO have snow once in a while here in Austin) we have had some REALLY cold weather this year!  No matter how cold it is, it doesn’t stop Alex for playing outside.

Alex starts school this week, and thanks to the hard work of his Aunt Stacie, we have a pretty full and exciting curriculum for his first year.  If his recent interest in books and hands-on learning are any indication, I think he’s going to really enjoy it.  More to come soon!
