The weather is steadily getting warmer in Austin, and soon it will be too hot to spend much time outdoors, so Alex and I decided to take Hanna and Indy to McKinney Falls State Park for a morning hike last Friday. It involved packing a LOT of stuff for three “kids”, but we had a blast! By the time we were ready to head home, all three of them were warn out and ready to fall asleep (which they all did as soon as they were strapped into their car seats).
On Saturday the weather cooled down a little bit and Daddy took some time off from work (yes, he worked on Saturday too!) to go with Alex and I to the Austin Zoo. Alex is still a little young to really appreciate all of the animals, but if it moved, he watched it. He especially liked watching the lions – there’s a picture in here of him pointing at one!
We had a lot of fun and can’t wait to go again! Now we will start looking for things to do indoors with lots of air conditioning for the summer.
There are no words to express the sorrow in our hearts as we face tomorrow without you, but we treasure the moments of life that were more perfect simply because you shared them with us. We love you, and we will miss you always.
Finally! I feel like I haven’t blogged in FOREVER…and Dustin has been getting on me about not getting something posted, so I have a few minutes to myself and thought I’d get some pictures up. I missed most of the month of April, so here is one long post about our whole month!
Early on in the month of April, my best friend from college, “Auntie” Kris came for a visit and to finally meet Alex. It took him a little while to warm up (he’s still stranger shy), but by the time she left, they were old friends.
Here we are at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin
During the month of April Alex also took his first bubble bath – and loved it.
So far the garden fruits and vegetables are growing well – here we have squash (straight neck and butternut)
We’ve had a few really delicious (but small) strawberries
And during the month of April we finally made it down to Corpus Christi to celebrate William’s first birthday and to play with the cousins.
Here’s Alex playing in the sandbox with William
Alex, Dustin and I shared a one year baptism celebration with Nury, Alex’s Godmother, and with Stacie, Daxson, and the boys. We lit his baptism candle and said some prayers. It was very simple, and beautiful! I hope it is something we can do every year as he grows.
We read stories…
And played outside…
We played in the ball pit…(that was quite an adventure!)
And they played in matching pajamas (thanks Grandma Belcher)
During our visit to Corpus, Stacie and I took Alex, Joseph and William to the Texas State Aquarium (Joseph and William are regular patrons already!). Alex loved to watch the fish swimming in the big tanks.
All in all, it was a great month and we have a lot of fun memories! Stay tuned for the next post on our exciting start to the month of May!
